Articles of Agreement between Edward Deane of Beeley, co. Derby, gentleman, and John Greaves the elder of Beeley, in the said county, gentleman, by the mediation and arbitration of Sir Peter Frechvile and Sir George Fullwood, knights, and William Kniveton of Mercaston and Francis Fitzherbert, esquires, to whose award the said Edward and John have submitted, viz, First, that the said John will permit the said Edward with all necessary carriages to pass a certain piece of ground in Beeley called Old Half Acres to and from the ground of the said Edward adjoining called Old Field or Copse for 2 years next ensuing (if the said Edward shall continually during that time or any under him cause the said ground called Old Field or Copse to be sown with corn) and for no longer time but for ever after the said Edward shall utterly relinquish all claims of right-of-way in and over the said Old Half Acres. Item, that the said John Greaves before 1 December next will pay to the said Edward Deane, £5 for the costs and charges the same has incurred. Item, that the said John and Edward before Christmas Day next will deliver unto the other mutually several release of all trespasses and actions. Item, that the said John and Edward before Christmas Day next will assure to each other all such exchanges of lands in Beeley aforesaid as at any time heretofore have been made between John Greaves, father of the said John, deceased. Item, that from henceforth the said John and and Edward and their children and servants shall remain in neighbourly love.
