Grant by John Greaves of Woodhouse, co. Derby, esquire, to John Greaves, his only son and heir, for his good education and maintenance, those lands called by the several names of Hell Carr, Hell Carr Meadows, and Two Jackcroftes, all which premises he has of John [Manners, 9th] earl of Rutland in the manor of Stanton and parish of Youlgreave in the said county; annual rent of £3.5s. to be paid to the said earl of Rutland.

Endorsements: 9th July 1657. Sealed and delivered by the said John Greaves to the use of the John Greaves his son in the presence of : James Tunsteed, John Hirst, Christopher Hunloke, Francis Tunsteed, Robert Tunsteed.' A deed of Gift of Hell Carr from my father to me.'
