Grant by Robert Eyre of Edale, co. Derby, gentleman, to Godfrey Bradsha of Bradshaw, co. Derby, gentleman, of the wardship and marriage of Ann Stafford, one of the daughters and heirs of Humfrey Stafford of Eyam, deceased, now being in the wardship of the said Robert by grant of George [Talbot, 9th] earl of Shrewsbury, as appears in a deed dated 11 October 4 Elizabeth, and mutual covenants by the said Godfrey and Robert that before 4 May next, Francis Bradsha [Bradshaw], son and heir apparent of the said Godfrey, shall marry the said Ann, and covenant by the said Robert that within 14 days after the solemnization of the said marriage he shall make a lawful estate to the said Francis and Ann of certain lands now in the tenure of William Ashton, John Bowdon, John Gee, and Richard Mort in the parish of Chapel en le Frith, co. Derby, of the clear yearly value of £5.6s.8d. over all charges at the end of the expiration of 19 years, and to the heirs of their bodies lawfully begotten, to the right heirs of the said Godfrey, and the said Godfrey covenants that within 4 years of the said marriage he will cause to be made at the request of the said Robert, to Jarves Eyre, Leonard Shulcros, James Lynacar, Anthony Browne, Henry Bagsha [Bagshaw], Adam Eyre and John Savage, gentlemen, a sure estate of all his manors and lands within the parish of Chapel en le Frith and of all lands which William Bradsha, father to the said Godfrey, had by gift of Richard Bradsha, except such lands before specified in the name of a jointure to the said Ann, to the use of the said Godfrey during his life, and then to the said Francis and his heirs male, provided that if the said Francis should die before the granting of the said estate, or the said Ann is not at the governance of the said Francis, this deed shall be void; consideration to be paid by the said Godfrey to the said Robert, £70, with sureties of £500.
