Certificate of Sir Ralph Longford, knight, and Thomas Meyverell, that where Harry Bradshaw had complained to the king that Reynold Lee [Leigh] pretended title to 2 parts of a meadow called Holmedowe in Chapel en le Frith and had by various suits vexed the said Harry, they certify that the said Reynold and Harry appeared before them, when the said Reynold answered the said complaint and said that one John Bradshaw was seised of a meadow called Lyghtbyrches lying in the said parish in his demesne as of fee and gave the said meadow to John Bradshaw his younger son, who gave the said premises by a deed sealed before the said Sir Ralph and Thomas, to the said Reynold, and furthermore the same Reynold said that 2 parts of Holmedowe were appended to the said meadow of Lyghtbyrches; and Harry Bradshaw said that neither the said Reynold nor the said John Bradshaw the younger were seised of the said 2 parts of Holmedowe, and that the same were not appended to the said meadow of Lyghtbyrches; and both parties agreed to abide by 'the triall of suche persons of the Countray as hadde long known the seid growndes', namely of the said Sir Ralph and Thomas and of Roger Vernon and Thomas Babyngton; and after divers persons whose names are comprised in 2 bills, whereof one is signed by Roger Vernon and the other by Thurston Alen and William Coke, said that the said John Bradshawe the younger never was possessed of the said meadow, but that William Bradshawe, elder brother to the same John, was continually seised of the same 2 parts during his lifetime without claim from the said John; and the said Sir Ralph and Thomas certify that the said Harry is ready to abide by their decision , but the said Reynold never came before them after the said persons had testified in manner abovesaid.
