Sale, for £50, from Nicholas Browne the elder of Marshe, co. Derby, esquire, to Nicholas Browne the younger of Madeley, co. Staff., gentleman, son and heir apparent of the said Nicholas the elder, to Humfrey Hurd of Oldcoates, co. Nott., yeoman, of the remainder of a term of years for 2 lives, as contained in a lease which William Knyveton, heretofore of Mercaston, co. Derby, esquire, and afterwards baronet, and Maud his wife, granted to Anthony Browne, late of Marsh, gentleman by a deed dated 20 August, 40 Elizabeth (1598), for £300 paid to them by the said Anthony, of the capital messuage with lands belonging called Underwood Hall in Ashbourne parish, co. Derby, late in the tenure of [----] Gaunt, for 90 years to be ended if the said Anthony Brown and Mary Joydrell, one of the daughters of Edmund Joydrell [Jodrell] of Yearesley, co. Chest., gentleman, should so long live, at an annual rent of £10, and where the said Anthony is now dead and the said Mary has since married and is now a widow by the name of Mary Shalcrosse and is yet living; annual rent, £41.13s.4d.
