Lease, for £50, and for 22 and a half years, from Catherine [of Braganza], queen of England, Denzill [Holles], lord Holles, High Steward to Queen Catherine, William [Brouncker], viscount Brouncker, Chancellor and Keeper of the Great Seal to Queen Catherine, Henry [Hyde, 2nd] earl of Clarendon, Richard Bellings, Principal Secretary to Queen Catherine, and Master of Requests, John Hervey, esquire, Treasurer and Receiver-General to Queen Catherine, William Montagu, esquire, Chief Baron of the Exchequer, and John Hall, esquire, Surveyor-General to Queen Catherine, to Richard Marriott of Courten Hall, co. Northt., gentleman, the manor of Marden alias Mawarden, co. Heref., with the lands thereto belonging, including lands formerly demised to Walter Powell; annual rent £26.7s.1d and a halfpenny.At the end of the second sheet is written - This contains a Lease in Reversion to Richard Marryott, gentleman, of the manor of Marden allias Mawarden with the rights, members and appurtenances in the county of Hereford for 22 years and a half year from 12 January 1687[8], under the yearly rent of 29s.11d. And is for the fine of £50. And is done by virtue of your Majesty's pleasure as signified to me by Henry, earl of Clarendon. Dated 14 July 1679. 19 July 1679, Ed: Butler.
