DOMENICO SCARLATTI AND SAMUEL WESLEY: keyboard sonatas; 2nd half of 18th cent. Copies, written in ink, in various different hands, on paper ruled with ten staves to the page. None of the works is attributed in the volume, beyond a title label reading ‘Scarlatti, S: Wesley’. With a list of contents and collation diagram in Tyson’s hand (ff. 33-4). Various watermarks, including no. 115 in E. Heawood, Watermarks (Hilversum, 1950), there dated ?1760-70. References to Scarlatti’s sonatas below are to the edition of A. Longo (Opere Complete per Clavicembalo, Milan: Ricordi, 1906-10) [L] and the catalogue of R. Kirkpatrick (in Domenico Scarlatti, Princeton, N. J., 1953) [K].
