The manuscript includes several additions, corrections and annotations by the Paduan grammarian Pietro da Montagnana:

Dimensions: 280 x 200 mm.
Ruling: 200 x 135 mm, 32 lines per page. Leroy J 00E2.
Collation: i8+1 (ff. 1-9; f. 1 is an added singleton); ii-x8 (ff. 10-81); xi8+1 (ff. 82-90); xii8-1 (ff. 91-97); xiii-xvii8 (ff. 98-137); xviii3 (ff. 138-140); xix2 (ff. 141-142). Quire signatures (numbers).
Binding: Mid-19th century leather binding with tooled and gilt decoration; gilt ostrich stamp of the Coke family on the upper cover.
Script: Latin text written in Gothic script.
Decoration: 8 pairs of illuminated initials in gold and colours, at the beginning of the divisions of the Psalter, historiated at the beginning of the Latin text and decorated with foliate scrolls at the beginning of the Greek text (ff. 2r, 22r, 34v, 46v, 58v, 73v, 87r, 101v). Pen-flourished initials at the beginning of the Psalms: blue with red pen-flourishing at the beginning of the Greek text and red with blue pen-flourishing at the beginning of the Latin text. Verse initials in blue and red. Line-fillers in blue and red.
The subjects of the historiated initials are:
f. 2r: Initial 'B'(eatus) of David playing his harp and David killing Goliath (Psalm 1).
f. 22r: Initial 'D'(ominus) of David pointing at his eyes with Christ (Psalm 26).
f. 34v: Initial 'D'(ixi) of David pointing at his mouth with Christ (Psalm 37).
f. 46v: Initial 'D'(ixit) of David and a fool (Psalm 52).
f. 58v: Initial 'S'(alvum) of David in waters and Christ Pantocrator above (Psalm 68).
f. 73v: Initial 'E'(xultate) of David playing the bells (Psalm 80).
f. 87r: Initial 'C'(antate) of two prophets holding books (Psalm 97).
f. 101v: Initial 'D'(ixit) of the Throne of Grace (Psalm 109).

Provenance:
Pietro da Montagnana (d. 1478), humanist, grammarian and rector of the parish of S. Fermo in Padua: additions and annotations in his hand (see ff. 1v, 130v, 131r, 140v, etc., see Content); bequeathed by him to the Canons Regular of the Lateran of S. Giovanni di Verdara where he retired in 1457 with his entire library (see Hunt (1973)): inscription dated 1478 recording the bequest: 'Liber hunc can[noni]cis Regu[lari]bus lat[er]an[ensis] in Mon[asterium] Divi Joannis Baptiste de viridaria Padue agentibus vir venerabilis ac devotus Christi sec[er]dos que bonar [illegible word] cultor grece latine hebraice eaque p[er]itissimus D. Petrus Montagnana optime fide pietatis studio pro que salute adsc[ri]psit atque donavit que quibusque [illegible word] p[ro]ficiat p[ri]mu[m] d[ominu]m sit gracias MCCCCLXXVIII' (f. 142v). The monastery of the Canons Regular of the Lateran, S. Giovanni di Verdara, Padua: listed in the catalogue of the library of S. Giovanni, see Tomasini (1639), p. 29; purchased from the Canons with other manuscripts from their library by Thomas Coke in 1717.
Thomas Coke, Earl of Leicester (b. 1697, d. 1759), politician, architect, and art collector, included in his collection in Holkham Hall.
Thomas William Coke, 1st Earl of Leicester of Holkham (b. 1754, d. 1842), politician and agriculturist: his bookplate (f. i); included in the library of the Earls of Leicester at Holkham Hall, Norfolk, as MS 22; ff. ii-iv include notes on the manuscript, the first in the hand of Rev. Charles Warbuton James, librarian at Holkham.

The corpus of other manuscripts illuminated by this artist has been established by de Floriani (1990), named as the Master of the Albenga Psalter, and expanded by Frońska (2007).
