1. ff. 1-53. ‘The Devil Take Her’, opera in a prologue and one act to a libretto by Alan Collard and John B. Gordon, with additional lyrics by Cedric Cliffe, after Ben Jonson and others; dated 6 June 1931 (f. 2). Vocal score, in ink, with stage directions added by the composer in green ink. Signed and heavily annotated in pencil and blue crayon by John B. Gordon, director of the first production, which took place at the Royal College of Music on 1 Dec. 1931. Vocal score published Boosey & Co., 1932. See D. Arundell, ‘Arthur Benjamin’s Operas’, Tempo, xv (1950), pp. 15-18.
