1. ff. 1-15. ‘Wool Ballet’, film score for small orchestra; [1950]. Piano reduction, in black ink, with annotations in blue ink and pencil. Written for the documentary film The Dancing Fleece (1950), a twenty-minute ballet film with continuous score directed by Frederick Wilson and made by the Crown Film Unit in 1951 for the Central Office of Information and the Board of Trade, promoting the British wool industry.
2. ff. 16-22. ‘Madame Chrysanthème’, ballet (designed by Frederick Ashton, after the book by Pierre Loti) in one act and five scenes, for orchestra; [1955]. Piano score of the fourth and fifth movements, in pencil. A furrther short score and full score are in the Rawsthorne Archive. Ballet suite from other portions of the score published 1958.
3. ff. 23-9. ‘Noah’, incidental music to the play by André Obey, translated by Arthur Wilmurt, for flute and string quartet; 1958. Reduction for flute and piano, in pencil. The full score is in the Rawsthorne Archive. Commissioned by the Saffron Walden Festival Committee.
4. ff. 30-76. Music for the Kuwait Oil Company documentary film Sweat Without Tears (1960), directed by Rodney Giesler; [1960]. Draft full score, in pencil, annotated with timings in red crayon. With typewritten lists of music cues, timings and commentary breakdown (ff. 31-40).
5. ff. 77-138. ‘A Tale of Two Cities’, incidental music for the BBC television production in ten episodes, adapted from Dickens by Constance Cox, produced by Campbell Logan and directed by Joan Craft; [1965]. Full score, in pencil. Recorded 22 March and 13 April 1965 and broadcast 11 April – 13 June 1965.
