- (2). ff. 4-95. Autograph full score, in blue-black ink. Pages 1-107, including two p. 11 (but no p. 13), and two p. 31, and four blank pages at the end of the Movement I (p. 55). Performance markings in pencil, blue pencil, and red pencil. Signed on the first page, and dated '1947-1948' at the end of the work. Also signed on the front fly-leaf and dedicated to Colin Horsley. Fly-leaf stamped: 'J. & W. Chester Ltd.'. With 1 folio of notes (pencil) concerning corrections (f. 4). Score includes pasted-down corrections: ff. 18, 21-23, 25-27, 28-29, 31-33, 39, 44, 45, 48-49, 53, 59-60, 64, 67, 76-78, 81, 85, 87-92, 94.
First performance: London, Royal Albert Hall, 31 August 1948. Colin Horsley (piano) and the London Symphony Orchestra, cond. Basil Cameron.
