  • ff. 1-29. Autograph score (original version [1952]), in black ink, some words in blue ink (14-stave paper, 340 x 270 mm). Outer bifolium (with title) enclosing pp. 1-23. Signed on f. 2, and annotated as copyright J. & W. Chester Ltd., 1959 (not otherwise dated). Pasted-down corrections: ff. 3-4, 6-8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18-20, 23-25. Inside back cover: old title-page crossed-out.
  • ff. 30-42. Dyeline copy (of original version), annotated in pencil. Stamped 'Chester Orchestral Hire Library'.
  • ff. 43-66. Sketches (for original version), including identifying slips.
  • ff. 67-101. Autograph score (revised version 1977), in black ink (16-stave paper, 365 x 270 mm). Outer bifolium (with title) enclosing pp. 1-21. Signed on f. 68, and dated at the end of the score: (f. 101) '2nd version August - October 1977'. Pasted-down corrections: ff. 82-84, 86-88, 91. Pencil sketches on ff. 84v, 95r.

  • ff. 102-113. Autograph score (incomplete), in blue ink and black ink with pencil annotations (14-stave paper, 365 x 270 mm). Outer bifolium (of later date) enclosing pp. 1-4, 7-20. Signed on f. 193, and dated at the end of the score: (f. 113v) 'April - June 1958'. Dedication: 'To Mrs Alice [Swanson] Esty'. Pasted-down corrections: ff. 109, 111.
  • ff. 114-124. Dyeline copy of autograph score, annotated in pencil. Title-page and pp. 1-20 (thus supplying the 2 pages missing from the autograph score). Brief pencil sketch on title-page.
  • ff. 125-127. Pencil sketches. Outer bifolium (of later date) enclosing 2 ff. Pencil sketch of pp. 1-3 of 'Lauds', and complete pencil sketch of 'O lurcher-loving collier'.

(3). ‘ff. 128-133. So Sweet Love Seemed’ [1959]. Words: Robert Bridges. Unmarked outer bifolia enclosing 1 bifolia, pp. [1]-[4]. Undated, signature on f. 128. Scored in black ink (16-stave paper, 368 x 270 mm). Pasted-down corrections: ff. 129, 131-133.
