ff. 24v, 82v and 84v are ruled with staves but otherwise blank.
Points of note:
1. f. 3v. Act I. The stage directions for scene 1 precede the Minuet (marked Andante).
2. f. 22v. Sc. 11. The last words of Arianna’s recitative (‘mi compiaci…tu taci’) are on f. 57.
3. f. 29. Sc. 12. The ‘Balli’ in H-G., p. 41, are not in the MS.
4. f. 33. Act II, sc. 3. Handel has altered (in pencil) the notes at the end of the recitative which precedes the air ‘Salda quercia’.
5. f. 44v. Sc. 10. A recitative for Teseo (‘Ti saresti ingannato… o mora’) is crossed out. That in H-G., p. 68 (‘Non sdegni d’Arianna…traditore’) is not in the MS. Some pencil notes are only partly legible: ‘ex F al fine amore…other words’.
6. f. 45. ‘Al fine amore’. In the MS. the song is in A minor, in H-G., p. 69, in G flat minor.
7. f. 52. Sc. 12. At the end of Carilda’s recitative (‘ingrata io sono’) the beginning of an air for Soprano ‘Del ciel voi giusti numi’ is crossed out. The aria ‘Son qual stanco pellegrino’ follows on f. 52v.
8. f. 61v. Act III, sc. 2. The original words (crossed out) of Alceste’s air ‘Par che voglia’ began ‘Lusinghiera nel mio seno’. The Act III Sinfonia and Scena 1 are on ff. 63-67v.
9. ff. 67v-71v. Sc. 3. The whole scene is in B major; in H-G (pp. 92-96) in B flat major. A pencil note by Handel directs the transposition.
10. f. 71v. The recit. ‘Ho vinto’ is directed (in pencil) to be sung ‘Un mezzo tono basso’.
11. f. 77v. Sc. 7. Two short scenes of recitatives (‘Scena 8’, ‘Scena 9’) for Carilda and Alceste are crossed out before the duet ‘Mira adesso’ (on f. 78).
12. f. 82. Sc. 8. After the recitative of Minos (‘Ne vede…Atene’): ‘Aria di Teseo [i.e., ‘Bella sorge’] e poi Coro ex D#’.
13. f. 83. The names of the singers of the chorus are: ‘Sigra Strada.’ ‘Sr Carest[ini].’ ‘Sr Scalzi,’ ‘Sigra Durast[anti].’ ‘Sr Negri.’ ‘Mr Walls.’.
14. f. 84. ‘Fine dell’Opera London 5 Octobr G F Handel 1733’.
