Points of note:
1. f. 1. ‘Overture pour l’Opera Titus l’Empereur’. The last three words are crossed out in pencil.
2. ff. 3v-4v. ‘Atto 1. Scena 1. Piazza Imperiale. Tito sul trono, Paulino ed Oldauro con seguito di Soldati e del Popolo’. The scene begins with a chorus (Andante allegro) ‘Numi eccelsi’, sung by Berenice (S.), Dalinda and Antioco (A.), Paulino and Oldauro (T.). The orchestra consists of 2 Horns, 2 Oboes, 3 Violins, Viola and Continuo. All this incomplete scene belongs to Titus l’Empereur. Act I of Ezio follows on f. 5.
3. f. 5. Act I, sc. 1. The March is followed immediately by Valentiniano’s air: ‘Se tu la reggia’ (on ff. 6-9).
4. f. 10. The air is followed by the recitatives (H-G., p. 5) ‘Signor vincemmo…Ezio tu sei’. ‘Parte servito da Varo con Pretoriani’. ‘Scena 2da’ follows on the same page. The numbering of the scenes in Act I differ from that in H-G.
5. f. 36v. Act II, sc. 1. An earlier version of the opening of the scene, beginning with a ‘Sinfonia’ in G major, allegro (ff. 36v-39) followed by short recitatives for Massimo and Fulvia (f. 39): ‘Avrà punito…Padre! Che porti’ – here joining in the version in H-G., p. 45. This version is not crossed out. The second version (H-G., pp. 43a-45) is on ff. 37-38 and the last line of f. 39, were at the end of the first line of recitative ‘NB’ is marked in pencil.
6. ff. 52v-53v. Sc. 8. Two pages of the opening of ‘Nasce al bosco’ have been crossed out and the aria has been rewritten on ff. 53v-56v.
7. f. 65v. ‘Fine dell Secondo Atto’.
8. f. 92v. Act III, sc. 13. The end of the Act (from H-G., p. 112, top line, bar 4) is missing. A memorandum as to the missing ending, signed C[harles] B[urney], is inserted.
