The MS. is damaged by damp throughout. f. 22v is ruled with staves but otherwise blank.
Points of note:
1. f. 5. Sc. 1. The scene represents a ‘Padiglione’ (omitted in H-G., p. 5).
2. f. 12. Sc. 3. ‘Pupille sdegnose.’ ‘Andante’ (H-G., p. 13) is not in the MS.
3. ff. 24-26. Sc. 5. ‘Non ti fidar’. The passage in dotted brackets (H-G., p. 29) is crossed out in the MS.
4. ff. 37-41. Sc. 8. ‘Scena 8. Irene e Fidalma’. The scene begins with an air for Fidalma ‘A chi vive’, of which there are two settings (omitted in H-G., followed by (f. 41) the recitative ‘Ahi che pur troppo…passin lenti’ (H-G., p. 47). The following recitatives are omitted in H-G.: ‘Fidalma. Ma troppo t’allontani dalle tende reali. Irene. E qual periglio temi or che l’arme son cessate. Fidalma. Ah quale qual calpestio d’armata squadra ascolto? Irene. Per questa via torna il mio ben. Scena 9. Tarquinio e detti. Tarquinio. Fidalma torni al campo, o s’uccida, il braccio mio siegui Irene. Fidalma. Ah crudel… Tarquinio. Via si trasporti. Due soldati la portan via. Irene. Lasciami, traditor, etc. The whole passage as printed in H-G. needs correction.
5. f. 50. Sc. 12. (Sc. 10 in H-G.). ‘Campidoglio’ (omitted in H-G., p. 58).
6. ff. 52-55. ‘Ma come amar’. No tempo is marked.
