The Preface to H-G. XLII and the version A printed in the volume contain full information as to the contents of the MS. The following are a few additional details. ff. 108v and 122v are ruled with staves but otherwise blank.
Points of note:
1. f. 4v. Overture. The Menuet (H-G., p. 7) is not in the MS. Part 1, scene 1, follows immediately after the end of the Allegro.
2. f. 9. (H-G., p. 28). Phanor was originally called ‘C[hief] Butler’ (crossed out, and ‘Phanor’ written).
3. f. 17. At the end of Pharaoh’s recitative (H-G., p. 52): ‘entra il coro’.
4. f. 23v. The passage in dotted brackets (H-G., p. 70) is in the MS. At its end: ‘A March with Trump: Kettle drums &ca. during the Procession’.
5. f. 41. (End of ‘Swift our numbers’): ‘London. G. F. Handel ♀ [Friday] August 26. 1743. völlig geendiget’.
6. f. 41v. The part of Phanor has been originally called Ramse or Ramsey (crossed out, and ‘Phanor’ written). Zaphnath throughout is called Zaphna.
7. ff. 49-54. A version of ‘Our fruits, whilst yet’ in F. Crossed out (not in H-G.).
8. f. 63. ‘Our fruits, whilst yet’. The passages in dotted brackets in H-G., pp. 115-116 are in the MS.
9. ff. 78v-80. ‘The silver stream’ (H-G., pp. 159-163). The version in the MS. differs from that printed.
10. f. 94. (End of ‘O God, who in Thy heav’nly hand’): ‘Fine della parte 2d [here is the astrological symbol for Monday] September 12. 1743. völlig’.
11. f. 94v. The Sinfonia (H-G., p. 188) is not in the MS. (See infra, f. 121).
12. f. 98v. ‘The people’s favour’. In E major. Marked in pencil: ‘Ex D# un tono piu basso’, and ‘Come sta’.
13. f. 118v. Ends ‘O Asenath was still the same’. ‘Segue il Duetto’ (H-G., p. 236).
14. f. 119. An inserted leaf of the recitative of scene 5.
15. f. 120. Inserted leaf with a note in the hand of F. Nicolai.
16. f. 121. The Sinfonia (H-G., p. 188).
