ff. 3v and 24v are ruled with staves but otherwise blank.
Points of note:
1. f. 1. ‘As pants the hart’ ‘Ψ. 42.’ (H-G., p. 239).
2. f. 3. The last three bars of the orchestral Introduction (H-G., p. 241) are crossed out (in pencil) and three bars are pencilled in, the last marked ‘Adagio’ and followed by the beginning (Treble and Bass only) of a ‘Fuga. Allegro’.
3. f. 4. The names of the singers are given: Alto 1 – ‘Mr. Hughs’; Alto 2 – ‘Mr. Bell’; Tenor – ‘Mr. Getting’; Bass 1 – ‘Mr. Whely’; Bass 2 – ‘Mr. Baker’.
4. f. 8v. The last five bars of the opening chorus (H-G., p. 251) are crossed out (in pencil) and the third bar ends with a semibreve in all parts (crossed out in ink). ‘Stat’ (in pencil) over the last 5 bars.
5. f. 11. The Alto solo (‘Tears are my daily bread’) is followed (H-G., p. 254) by a Bass recitative ‘Now when I think’ for ‘Mr. Whely’. This is crossed out (in pencil) and ‘Mutato’ written above. The setting is different from that in H-G.
6. ff. 12-13. ‘Now when I think’ and ‘For I went with the multitude’ (H-G., p. 254-6); in a copyst’s handwriting.
7. f. 14. ‘In the voice of praise’ (H-G., p. 257). ‘Mr. Hughs and Contraltos’; ‘Mr. Bell and Tenors’; ‘Mr. Whely and some Basses’; ‘Mr. Baker, Mr. Edwards and Basses’: written against the Alto, Tenor, 1 and 2 Bass line respectively. The chorus is marked ‘Allegro’ in a copyst’s hand, but crossed out in pencil.
8. f. 17v. ‘Why so full of grief’. ‘Mr. Hughs’, ‘Mr. Bell’.
9. f. 20v. ‘Put thy trust in God’ (H-G., p. 266). ‘Hughes’; ‘Bell’; ‘Mr. Baker’. The opening passage for Bass is marked: ‘Solo’.
