1. ff. 1-6v. ‘Mi palpita il cor’ ‘Cantata’ (HWV 132c). For Alto, Flute and Continuo (H-G L, No. 33, p. 153; Hallische Händel-Ausgabe V/4, 1995). See also R.M.20.e.4. (ff. 1-8); for copies see Add. MSS 29484 (ff. 56v-59v), 31574 (ff. 29-34v).
2. ff. 7-22v. ‘I will magnifie thee o God my King’ ‘Anthem’ (Chapel Royal Anthem Vb, HWV 250b) (H-G XXXIV, No 5b, p. 169; Hallische Händel-Ausgabe III/9, 1992). The names of the soloists are: ‘Mr Hughs’ (i.e., Francis Hughes, Alto’ entered the Chapel Royal in 1708, died in 1744); ‘Mr Wheeley’ (i.e., Samuel Weeley, Bass; entered the Chapel Royal in 1714, died in 1743); ‘Getting’ (i.e., John or Thomas Gethin, Tenor; entered the Chapel Royal in 1716 and was there in 1720; there is no record of his death in the Cheque Book). A pencil cut is marked from the end of H-G., p. 173, line 1, bar 2; the abbreviated passage is written in pencil at the end of the solo, with a note at the end: ‘NB. vide infra my mouth shall’.
