Lloyd-Jones et al, p. 210. See also the Irish papers of the 1670s enclosed in letters to Southwell, Add. 72852, ff. 170-171, 'Considerations how the Protestants ... of Ireland may disable the Papists there', 1679; ff. 172-173, 'The uses of Sr Wm Petty's booke', 1679; and ff. 174-175, '22 Counsellors', 1679. 5. ff. 38-63v. Untitled manuscript of 'The Political Anatomy of Ireland'; [1672]. Fair copy by Dr Robert Wood, with an added title-page (f. 38) in the hand of the 6th Marquess of Lansdowne. Differing in some minor respects from the published versions, including the omission of Wood's name in the last sentence. For Wood's recommended changes to the present transcription, see his letter to Petty, 16 Aug. 1673, Add. 72850, f. 198. Another contemporary copy preserved by Southwell, is Add. MS 21127. For the first publication in 1691, see Keynes, Bibliography, No. 37; reprinted in Economic Writings, ed. Hull, I, pp. 121-210, whose introduction describes how it was undertaken at the instigation of Sir Joseph Williamson and Edward Chamberlayne. C57.

17. ff. 104-111v. 'A Report to the Lord Lieutenant & Council from the Council of Trade about the Emprovement & Trade of Ireland'; [1675?]. Draft of a work by Petty chiefly in the hand of an amanuensis, with autograph corrections and additions. The fair copies and printed version (see below) are dated 24 March 1676, but the report is apparently mentioned in a letter from Petty to Wood of 10 April 1675 as being
'in every great mans archives' (Add. 72858, f, 211). For two fair copies, the first from Pepys's collection with a few autograph corrections, see
Add. MS 38849, ff. 86-93v (also referred to in H.M.C. 15th Report, II, p. 317), and Add. 72852, ff. 106-113v; both are endorsed 'had from Sir Peter Pett March 1689'. Published in 1691 along with 'The Political Anatomy of Ireland' (see Keynes, Bibliography, No. 34); reprinted in Economic Writings, ed. Hull, I, pp. 211-223. C11.
