1. ff. 1-4v. Letter from Robert Cullen to ?, containing notes of Petty's published and unpublished works; 1758.
2. ff. 5-6. Account by James Matthews of the contents of four chests of papers 'sent to Shelburne House by Mr Fitzmaurice from Twickenham'; 10 June 1780. The contents include Petty's 'public papers upon a variety of subjects' and his 'private Papers concerning his Estates in Ireland'.
3. ff. 7-8. Copy of Petty's 1671 list of his writings (see Add. 72857, ff. 77-78v above); early 19th cent.
4. ff. 9-10v. 'Schedule of the Petty Papers'; 1834. The Down Survey and a few other items only.
5. ff. 11-13v. 'A Schedule of papers now to be delivered to the Marquis of Lansdowne by Mr Cameron'; April 1836. Two copies. A list of the Petty Papers chiefly under the old numbers of the Bibliotheca Lansdowniana (672-686), with accompanying notes by the 6th Marquess.
6. ff. 14-28. Lists of Petty's papers formerly belonging to Sir Peter Pett, and of those in Sloane MS 2903, followed by copies of a few papers from the latter source and from the Petty Papers by James Matthews; 18th cent.
7. ff. 29-39v. A tabulated survey of the maps of Ireland in the Bowood collections, the Bibliothèque Nationale and the Surveyor-General's Office, Dublin (ff. 29-32), followed by notes and correspondence concerning the maps in the Bibliothèque Nationale; late 18th cent.-1931. 8. ff. 40-61. Letters from Sir Thomas Phillipps, Bart., and Richard Jones to William, Earl of Kerry, concerning his research into Petty's life, followed by his notes; 1836, n.d.
9. ff. 62-76. Extracts copied by Lord Kerry from Petty's letterbooks, 1666-1683, while they were owned by Sir Thomas Phillipps; circa 1836. One letterbook is Add. 72858 above; the others are now in the Osler collection, McGill University Library.
10. ff. 77-121. Lists of the Petty Papers, consisting of typewritten copies of the 18th cent. list by James Matthews, and of the papers in their later arrangement of bound volumes and loose boxes at Bowood; followed (ff. 104-121) by annotated sale catalogue extracts and other documentation relating to the Petty-Southwell papers bought at the De Clifford sale, 1834, and at the Phillipps sale at Christie's, 27 April 1911. Partly typewritten and printed.
