Vol. CCCXXII (ff. 202). A series of narratives and open letters by the Duchess, chiefly describing episodes in her own and her family's loss of royal favour; [1709?]-[1712?], with a few later additions. Autograph and copies, mostly by or dictated to her servants, Charles Hodges and Judith Forster. As follows: — (1) Correspondence with Abigail, wife of Samuel Masham, 1st Baron Masham, Sept. 1707, followed by an account of the Duchess's discovery of her favour with Queen Anne; 1710. Three copies, with autograph corrections and additions. ff. 1-22b.
(2) 'An account of Mrs Massam's taking the dutchess of Marlboroughs Lodgings at Kensington' (f. 28b) in 1708; [1710?]. Two copies, each with an autograph addition at the end. Another copy is at Add. MS. 9092, ff. 83-86b. ff. 23-30b.
(3) 'An account of the closset where she [Queen Anne] saw Mrs Masham & of what passed at the Princes death' (f. 34b) in Nov. 1708; [1710?]. Autograph. Printed in Private Correspondence of Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, 1838, I, pp. 410-416. ff. 31-34b.

(5) Accounts of a dispute between Queen Anne and Marlborough over the disposal of the regiment of Algemon Capell, 2nd Earl of Essex in Jan. 1710; 14 Feb. 1710, with later additions. Autograph, followed (ff. 45-48b) by a copy with an autograph addition at the end, and a variant (ff. 49-52b) by Arthur Maynwaring. ff. 41-53.
(6) An account of Queen Anne's answer to a parliamentary address concerning the Duke of Marlborough in Feb. 1710; 1710. Mostly autograph. ff. 54-56b.
