(m) Photograph of the only certain example of the handwriting of Edward III, viz. the words 'Pater Sancte' at the end of a letter, in the Vatican archives, to Pope John XXII [1329-1330]; the remainder of the letter is in the hand of the king's secretary, Richard de Bury. This photograph was formerly exhibited in the Department of MSS. (cf. Guide to the Exhibited MSS., pt. i, 1912, pp. 13, 14, no. 1 A).
