(y) Facsimile of Charles Lamb's essay entitled 'Dream-Children: A Reverie', from the autograph MS. in the possession of Mr. Alfred Newton, the American collector ( with a presentation inscription to Dr. Robin Flower from the owner, 3 Jan. 1934 ). The essay was first published in the London Magazine, Jan. 1822 ( it was inspired by the death on 26 Oct. 1821 of his brother John, the 'John L-' of the essay ; cf. E. V. Lucas, Life of Charles Lamb ). Both sheets are reproduced at pp. 187 and 189 of Rare Books, Original Drawings, Autograph Letters and MSS. Collected by the late A. Edward Newton ... For public sale ... At the Parke-Bernet Galleries... New York, 1941, where this Lamb MS. was lot 583. Presented by the owner.
