"LIBER Pastoralis Cure beati Gregorii [episcopi] urbis Rome ad Johannem Ravennatem"; with the dedicatory letter, beg. "Pastoralis cure me pondera,"addressed to John, Bishop of Ravenna (Migne, Patrologia, vol. lxxvii.). At the end (f. 61b) is added a letter from Innocent III. to King John of England [23 Jan. 1209], exhorting him to submission, beg. "More pii patris" (Migne, vol. ccxv. 1535). Vellum; ff. 62. Early XIIIth cent. In double columns of 32 lines, without divisions or titles to chapters; coloured initials. On the last page are some scribblings and doggrel Latin lines, with the dates 1305 and 1318. Bound in oak boards, covered with white kid. On f. 1 is the signature "Br. Stapleton" [?Sir Brian Stapleton, of co. Suffolk, ob. 1519]. Quarto.
