PAPERS relating to the French army in 1790-92, consisting of several statements and estimates for establishment and maintenance of the various branches. They chiefly form portions of several plans formed by, or submitted to, the "Comte de Latour du Pin" [Jean Frédéric de la Tour du Pin, Comte du Paulin], Minister of War (1789-90), but are incomplete. A memorandum accompanying the papers (f. 1) states that they were left with Earl Temple by the Comte de Jarnac, 30 Jan. 1807. At the end (f. 114) are "Quelqiies notes sur le régime des Colonies françaises pendant la Monarchie, applicables en grande partie aux Colonies anglaises "; endorsed "Notes for the Earl Temple from the Comte de Jarnac, March, 1806."
