COPIES of State Papers, 1744-1772, viz.
1. " Minute of a Cabinet Paper by Lord Chancellor Hardwicke in Dec. 1744, on the then posture of public affairs." In the hand of T. Astle. f. 1.
2. " Extract of Secretary Murray's [John Murray of Broughton, Secretary to the Pretender] examination before the Lord Chancellor, the two Secretaries of State, and Mr. Pelham soon after his commitment to the Tower, Augt. 13, 1746." In Astle's hand. (For other papers on the same subject, see Add. 33,050). f. 3. Followed (ff. 8b, 9) by copies of letters to the Young Pretender from the Prince del Campo Florido, Spanish Ambassador in Paris, 1 Aug. 1745 ; and from the Duc de Bouillon.
3. Copies of the speeches of the advocates, pro et con., in the cause of separation between Christian VII. of Denmark and his Queen, Caroline Matilda; 24 Mar.-2 April, 1772. A note by Astle says, "never made public." f. 10. Paper; ff. 23. In crimson morocco binding, tooled, with the royal arms in the centre. Small Quarto.
