DIALOGUS de Scaccario [by Richard Fitz-Nigel, Bishop of London, 1189-1198], here entitled " Gervasii Tilberiensis de Necessariis Scacarii observationibus Dialogus " ; the false ascription to Gervase, of Tilbury being common before Madox (History of Exchequer, vol. ii.). After the author's prologue is placed Bale's notice of Gervase; then comes the table of chapters in the whole work, 46 in all. There is no division into books, though the author's preface to the second book is inserted in its place. A note at the end (cf. f. 1 b) states that this MS. is a copy of one in the possession of the Archbishop of Canterbury (probably the present No. 138, Art. 5, in the Lambeth Library), which was made by William Lambard, the antiquary [1536-1601], and dedicated to [Sir] Thomas Bromley, then Solicitor General and afterwards Lord Chancellor, in 1572. Paper; ff. 43. End of xvith cent. Folio.
