COPIES of thirty charters, mostly relating to Kent. Latin. The first 28, ranging in date from the end of the 7th century to 1053, have been printed in Kemble's Codex Diplomaticus or Birch's Cartularium Saxonicum (and some also elsewhere). The last two are of Stephen and John respectively (printed by Stubbs, Select Charters, pp. 120, 288). Paper; ff. 39. In two hands, of the first half of the 17th century. Said by O'Conor (Bibliotheca MS. Stowensis, ii. p. 151) to have belonged to Sir E. Dering, and afterwards to Thomas Astle. In the hand of the latter, at f. 39, is a list of "Charteres with T[homas] A[stle] and not in this Book" (now included among the Stowe Charters). Folio.
