DAVID AND ABSALOM: a Latin tragedy, in five acts, written in iambic trimeters and various choric meters. The characters are Joab, Absalom, Ahitopbel, Messenger, David, Abishai, Cushai, Zadok, Abiathar, Watchman, and Ahimaaz. A modern note on the first page attributes it to John Bale, Bishop of Ossory [1495-1563]; but it is not included in his own list of his works, nor in any other list, and it appears never to have been printed. From the numerous corrections it is apparently in the author's autograph. Paper; ff. 30. XVIth cent. Octavo.
Poetry: "David and Absalom ": a tragedy: 16th cent.: Lat.
John Bale, Bishop of Ossory: "David and Absalom ": a tragedy attributed to: 16th cent.: Lat. verse.
