"ECTYPA VARIA ad Historiam Britannicam illustrandam olim insculpta studio et curâ Antiquarii Fidelissimi et Indefessi Thomæ, Hearne, A.M. Oxoniensis," 1737. The printed volume, with MS. notes in two hands, the descriptions of the Plates being in the hand of Richard Farmer, D.D., Master of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, while the references to the sources from which the engravings were made are perhaps in the hand of Edmund Calamy, D.D. Amongst the plates are:-(a) the Roman Tesselated Pavement at Stunsfield, near Woodstock, a full description of which is prefixed to vol. viii. of Leland's Itinerary, ed. Hearne;-(b) the Woodward Shield, a dissertation on which was written by Henry Dodwell, and published by Hearne in 1713;-and (c) seventeen engravings of the Colleges of Oxford, which are included as an appendix in the above work of Dodwell's, to illustrate Collegiorum . . . Academiæ Oxoniensis, by Thomas Nele. At the beginning (f. 2 b) is an engraved portrait of T. Hearne by G. Vertue. Paper; ff. 55. Notes on the fly-leaf state that the volume was given in June, 1737, to Edmund Calamy, D.D., by James West [Secretary to the Treasury, etc.], and was subsequently given by Calamy's son to Dr. Farmer.
