King Offa of the English grants three sulungs (aratra) at Lydd, Kent, to Archbishop Jænberht of Canterbury; dated 774 (Sawyer, no. 111).
Endorsed in a hand of the 2nd half of the 10th century, ‘to hlidum’, repeated by a slightly later hand; in a 12th-century hand, ‘Offa rex. dedit Iamberto. archiepiscopo. et ecclesie. cristi terrram trium aratorum on hlidum’; in a 12th- or 13th-century hand, ‘Offa rex dedit. hlide \in marisco de Romenal/ [added by 13th-century hand] Iamberto archiepiscopo ad ecclesiam cristi cant’. .latine.’; in a 13th-century hand, ‘Hliden in marisco de romenal’; in a 14th-century hand, ‘dccº. lxxiiiiº’.
