Grant by Henry III to Flixton Priory of free warren in all of the priory’s demesne lands in Flixton, Suffolk, with a blank space left by the scribe for a decorated initial 'H' ('Henricus’); given at Westminster, 23 May 1271.
Endorsed: in a 15th-century hand, ‘cart[a] de warann[e] / de Fflixton’; in an 18th-century hand, ’23 May 55 Hen[rici]: 3. a[nno]: 1271. / The kings grant of free warren / to the prioress & nuns of Flixton within their manor of Flixton in Suffolk’.
Affixed with an imperfect Great Seal of Henry III, oval, green, with Henry III enthroned, with a loose dress and a cloak, a sceptre in his right hand, his feet each resting on a small lion, a lion on either side of the throne, with the fragmentary legend, ‘…minus hybern…’ Reverse: the king mounted on a horse, with the fragmentary legend, ‘-ex angli…’ (see Birch, Catalogue of Seals (1887-1900), I, pp. 17-19).
