CONFIRMATION, after inspeximus, by Geoffrey [Plantagenet], Archbishop of York, of a settlement of suit between Mag. Robert de Ettona and Alan, "clericus," concerning the chapel of Leuerton [Liverton, in Easington, N.R. co. York], made before T[homas], Abbot of Melsa [Meaux, E.R. co. York], H[elias], Prior of Bredlington [Bridlington, E.R. co. York], and J-, Prior of Wartria [Warter, E.R. co. York], arbitrators appointed by the late Pope Celestine [III.], whereby it is decided that the said Alan shall hold for life the said chapel, which he acknowledges to belong to the mother-church of Esington [Easington], at an annual rent of 9s., with reversion to the same church, "si prefato Alano humanitus aliquid contigerit vel statum suum mutaverit."
