A mass-produced indulgence by Peter de Monte (b. c. 1400, d. 1457), apostolic notary and papal collector. In exchange for money towards the conversion of the Greeks and defending the borders of Christendom from non-Christians, Margery Dicks and her sister Anna may choose a confessor who can offer them plenary remission of sins; given 8 April 1439.
Dorse: a form of absolution.
Endorsed: in a 17th-century hand, ‘Posted and trans in libro transcriptorum p. 14'; in an 18th-century hand, ‘1439 / Absolution’.
Affixed with a very fragmentary seal of Peter de Monte, lozenge, red, with a figure in robes, Gothic tracery on the left (see Birch, Catalogue of Seals (1887-1900), VI, p. 357).
