1.Early poems; circa 1918 - 1940. Comprising: 'On an Autumn Evening', circa 1918; 'Passion 1', with annotations; 'Christmas Poem', 1939; poem beginning, 'Day is the hero's shield' written in Martindale in 1940, published in Stone and Flower as 'Harvest'; untitled poem beginning, 'It was in 39 the rot began'; 'Song to quiet the Child'.
2.File of poems written for publication in journals; 1960-1961. Mostly annotated with the title of the journal in which they were published. Comprising: 'Night-thought'; 'Night Sky'; 'A Certain Moist Nature'; 'Συδαιμων' [Eudaimon]; 'Kore in Hades'; 'Rose'; 'Childhood'; 'La Recherche de L'Absolom'; 'Falling Leaves'; 'Consort of Viols'. Many of the poems contain explanatory notes; 'Falling Leaves' and 'Consort of Viols' have not been identified with a particular publication but were acquired within the same file.
3.Poems; 1963-[1968?], n.d. Comprising: poems entitled 'Ban Sidhe'; 'Death's Country', inspired by a painting by Cecil Collins; part III of 'By the River Eden', untitled, beginning, 'The lapwing's shrill cry'; 'Music of Heaven'; 'The Gulls', untitled, beginning, 'As I returned from measureless times and spaces of dreams…'; an unidentified poem beginning, 'One, Lord, who has often fallen into sin…' [see also Add. 88663 for another draft]; 'Death'; 'To My Vulture'; 'A young Face'; 'A Childhood Memory'; 'To Helen (Sutherland) on her Eightieth Birthday'; 'Thaumas'; fragments of unidentified poems. The reverse of some folios contain notes on Jacob Bryant, mythographer; William Blake; Coleridge and David Jones.
