Vol. II. 'USCA PAUCAR': a Quechua drama in the form of an auto sacramental. The MS. was apparently given to Markham in 1853 by Dr Julian Ochoa, Rector of the Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad at Cuzco and afterwards Bishop of Cuzco (see The Incas of Peru, pp. viii, 143-144, 156), although Hills, op. cit., p. 147, note 76, suggests, presumably also on Markham's own authority, that the donor was the Sub- Prefect of Paucartambo. This play was edited, from a MS. then owned by Dr D. Leonardo Villar of Lima, by E. W. Middendorf, Dramatische und lyrische Dichtungen der Keshua-Sprache (Die einheimischen Sprachen Perus, iv), Leipzig, 1891, pp. 94-173. His text varies from the present one.
