G. Three-part canon 'Ewig dein', by Ludwig van Beethoven, WoO 161 in G. Kinsky, Das Werk Beethovens, 1955, p. 670. Copy, to English words, made during the 19th century whilst the autograph MS. was in the possession of Joseph Street. Together with:-(1) A letter to Street from C. Goffrié, offering to procure the original; 12 May 1847. f. 57;-(2) The postal cover, originating at Mannheim and date-stamped in England, 3 July 1847, in which the MS. was sent to Goffrié. f. 59. The original MS. is in the Beethovenhaus, Bonn (see H. Schmidt, 'Die Beethoven Handschriften des Beethovenhauses in Bonn', Beethoven-Jahrbuch, vii, 1971, no. 592); it was formerly in the collection of H. C. Bodmer, see M. Unger, Eine Schweizer Beethoven Sammlung, 1939, pp. 138-139. Unger did not, however, identify it with Street's MS., which he cited separately, owing to a misreading of a note by C. F. Pohl in Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung, 1863, p. 856, in which it was published in one part only. ff. 56-60. Presented by Mrs Florence Julia Street.
