MUSICAL WORKS OF WILLIAM RUSSELL. Vol. IV (ff. iii+43). 'Selections from Handel [and others] for the Organ' (f. i) compiled by William Russell, father of the preceding, with pencil additions by his son on ff. iii, 11, 39-40, 41b, 43; 'April 23 1792' (ff. ii, iii). The elder William Russell was an organ-builder, and organist of St Mary's, Aldermanbury. See 51018, ff. i-ib. Mostly comprises organ arrangements taken from oratorios, etc., by George Frideric Handel. Also included are:- (a) Rondeau in G.
ff. 11b-12;- (b) Arrangement by 'J.G.' of 'Water parted from the sea' from Thomas Arne's 'Artaxerxes'. ff. 12b-13;- (c) Prelude to Act 2 of Henry Purcell's incidental music to Thomas Southerne's 'Sir Anthony Love'. See Zimmerman 588. f. 12;- (d) Fugue in C by [Phillip] Joseph Frike [Frick];
ff. 30b-31;- (e) Adagio and Fugue in G by Dr Samuel Arnold. ff. 32-33. Followed (f. 43b reversed) by an engraved ornamental title-page with MS. additions.
