A. Ten plans and sketches made by a student of military draughtsmanship; 1739-1744. A sketch, f. 5, is endorsed 'presumably done on a course of military engineering in London, 1739-1740 Wm Anne – Ld Albemarle or his son', 19-20th cent. The son, George Keppel, 3rd Earl of Albemarle (b. 1724, d. 1772), who served under Cumberland, would be the more likely, but although a note on the reverse of 51053 C, f. 9, a plan of the Maastricht area, bears some resemblance to his hand in Add. MSS. 32708, f. 284; 32723, f. 449; 32725, ff. 162, 164, there is not enough text for a firm attribution. The hand which appears in the lettering of six of the maps in 51053 C does not resemble Albemarle's hand. ff. 11. Maximum size 460 x 650mm.
