5. ff. 113-119. Political notes of George III; circa 1770-1775. Autograph. Included are notes on the press-gang and on the political alliance between Vienna, Russia and Berlin, and a transcription by the King of anonymous 'Notes relative to Affairs in America, by an Officer . . . ' The last item is probably 'the notes relative to affairs in America' made by Maj.-Gen. Burgoyne and copied by the King in April 1775, for which see Sir J. Fortescue, Correspondence of George III, 1760-1783, (1927, 1928), iii,
p. 202.
6. ff. 120-120v. Anonymous draft account of an attempt by the Prince of Wales to seek an audience with the King, after Margaret Nicholson's attempt on the latter's life; 3 Aug. 1786.
7. ff. 121-126. Draft of a letter to the Marquess of Granby relating to Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick endorsed by the 1st Duke of Newcastle, together with copies of letters of the Prince to the Duke of Newcastle; 1759-1763. Partly French.
8. ff. 128-129. Letter from George II to Frederick, Prince of Wales, banishing him from St James' Palace; 10 Sept. 1737. Copy. Further copies are Add. 48212 D and Egerton 2429 D.
9. ff. 130-132. 'Heads of Proposals', a summary of the policies put before the country gentlemen by Frederick, Prince of Wales planning a future administration, together with their reply; 1747, 1748. Mid 18th cent. copy. The terms are listed in a different form from those printed in Lord John Russell, Correspondence of John Fourth Duke of Bedford (1842), i, pp. 322-323. Further differences occur in Add. 47012, f. 28. The present document bears on its cover (f. 132) the arms of the Dacre and Hampden families, from either of which families it could have passed to Lord North's father, the 1st Earl of Guilford.
