Vellum; ff. ii+69. Sec. fol.: 'nescit quid'. 187 x 135mm. Original vellum fly-leaves (ff. i, ii). Gatherings (8) of 8, except iv8 (wants 8, blank), v12 (wants 11 and 12, blank), vi12 (wants 11 and 12, blank), vii16 (wants 12), viii4 (wants 4, blank). Gatherings i-iii numbered at end, catchword f. 42v (v10). 1 col. (ff. 32-33, 2 cols.). 28 ll. (ff. 1-31), 38 ll. (ff. 32, 33), 43 ll. (ff. 34-63), 45 ll. (ff. 64-69). Ruled dry-point ff. 1-33, plummet ff. 34-69. Red 4-line initials ff. 1-31, alternate red and green 1-line initials ff. 32-62, red 2 and 4-line initials ff. 63-69. Written space 145 x 100mm. Script is a Protogothic textualis by several hands. Guide letters. Text is 'above top-line'. Sewn as 4 split cords. Original binding of oak boards with sheepskin chemise. Remains of single strap and pin mechanism fastening on to lower board. 18th cent.(?) titling on cover and number '28' on spine. Two detached leaves from a Noted Missal containing plainchant from the Ordo Exsequiarum, formerly placed with the present volume, are now Add. 62132 B below.

8 D.VIII, 8 F.V, 8 F.XIV. Preceded (ff. 1-12v) by a re-working of the same material with quotations from Augustine, Bede and Isidore, beg. 'Ut facile carissime frater tuorum indulgenciam et dei dilectionem', and followed (ff. 28-31) by an 'Expositio dominice orationis', beg. 'Pater noster quoniam magna est clemencia dei'.
2. ff. 32-33. Fragment of Roman history, beg. 'bella nova exaserunt. Unum in Hispania', with a list of Roman Emperors from Julius Caesar to Lotharius II (1125-1138).
3. ff. 34-62v. Roman history, beg. 'Primus in italia regnavit Ianus. Deinde Saturnus ionem filium senem a grecia fugiens', listing consuls and emperors and principal events, and ending at the death of Totila, king of the Ostrogoths, 541-542.
4. ff. 62v-69. Letters of Hildebert, Bishop of Le Mans 1097 and Archbishop of Tours 1125-1133. Letters 1-31 preceded by 'In me mihi bene complacui' (Migne, PL, 171, col. 301). Letters 1-31 are in the same order as in Royal 7 A.IV, 14 C.IV, Add. 22051, Harl. 3016, Arundel 25, Cotton Vesp. D.XIX, all of which have larger collections. The letters in Migne are arranged in a different order.
