CARDEW COLLECTION. Vol. xxxvi. Two versions of Cardew’s realisation of 2-3 sheets of ‘Plus Minus’ by Karlheinz Stockhausen; [1964?]. The original score consists of symbols printed on 7 separate sheets, which can be realised in any order in conjunction with any of 7 separate sheets of musical notation. Cardew and Frederic Rzewski both prepared realisations, which they performed jointly in Rome, 14 June 1964. 1. ff. 1-14. Complete score of work in its original form. Dyeline of MS not in Cardew’s hand. Four sheets of symbols are paginated in ink (see nos. 4-7 below) and, together with the corresponding sheets of musical notation, bear pencil and ink annotations.

2. ff. 15-16. Typewritten instructions in German. Imperfect.

3. ff. 17-27. Instructions in English translation. Typewritten with ink and pencil additions and annotations probably in the hand of Frederic Rzewski, whose autograph inscription to Cardew is on p. 1 (f. 17).

4. ff. 28-54. Realisation, 1st version, pp. 1-2 and beginning of p. 3. Pencil and ink.

5. ff. 55-67. Realisation, 2nd version, pp. 1-2 and part of p. 3, with 2 copies of the first sheet (ff. 55v-56). Pencil and ink.

6. f. 68. Sketch for part of realisation of p. 3, not used in final performing version. Pencil with ink annotations.

7. ff. 69-72. Draft of realisation of pp. 3-4, not used in final performing version. Pencil and ink. Apparently incomplete.
