C. Decision by the Commissioners for the survey of Sherwood Forest on a claim by William Willoughby, 16 Sept. 1658. Signed by Joseph Ayloffe, Adam Eyre, and William Mar; the latter two appear in both MS and printed versions of the instructions to the commissioners, but Ayloffe only in the printed version. Three of the proprietors' representatives are also signatories; Charles White, W. Cartwright, and Robert Butler. Willoughby had claimed a substantial acreage, part of the manor of Warsop lying within the forest, as well as a number of properties and pasturing rights, almost all of which he was granted by the Commissioners.
