Each item is dated with a copyright date, which is the same as the publication date. Occasional engravers’ markings in red ink.

1. ff. 1-4. ‘Two songs. Come Back! A Secret’ (words by Quilter); 1903. The inscriptions ‘sung by Mr Ley Vernon’ and ‘words by Claude Romney’ (a pseudonym of Quilter) have been deleted from the title page. Published (also in a medium voice edition) in 1903 and withdrawn by the composer in 1915.
2. ff. 5-8. [Four songs of Mirza-Schaffy, op. 2], (words, F. Bodenstedt, translated by R. Elkin); 1911. Translations added in another hand. A revised version of the songs first published in 1903 with translations by W. Creighton.
3. ff. 9-10. ‘Slumber Song (from "Where the Rainbow Ends")’, (words, Clifford Mills); 1912.
4. ff. 11-14. ‘I Love the Jocund Dance’ [emended in pencil to ‘The Jocund Dance’], op. 18, no. 3, (words, William Blake); 1914. Dedicated ‘To Frederic Austin’ (f. 12).
5. ff. 15-17. ‘To Wine and Beauty’, op. 18, no. 1, (words, Earl of Rochester); 1914. Copy. Dedicated ‘To Theodore Byard’ (f. 15v).
6. f. 18. ‘To Wine and Beauty’, op. 18, no. 1. The words only, in Quilter’s hand.
7. ff. 19-20. ‘Where be you Going’, op. 18, no. 2, (words, Keats); 1914. Dedicated ‘To H. Plunket Greene’ (f. 19).
8. f. 21. ‘Where be you Going’, op. 18, no. 2. The words only, in Quilter’s hand.
9. ff. 22-25. ‘Two September Songs’, op. 18, nos. 5-6, (words, Mary Coleridge); 1916. Dedicated ‘to Miss Muriel Foster’ (ff. 22, 22v and 24v).
10. ff. 26-27. ‘Moonlight on the Lake’; 1936. Piano conductor score for the arrangement from ‘Where the Rainbow Ends’. Probably autograph. Published as the first of Two pieces for piano & strings, 1937.
11. ff. 28-40. ‘Water Nymph’; 1937. Piano conductor score and certain parts (violin III, ’cello I and II, double bass) for the arrangement from ‘Where the Rainbow Ends’. Published as the second of Two Pieces for Piano & Strings, Elkin & Co., 1937.
