TRUMBULL PAPERS. Vol. CXLVIII. Sir Thomas Edmondes: Journal of his proceedings in France and the Low Countries; 1599-1600. Copy, imperfect. Partly French. The main section (ff. 11-26v), relating to negotiations for a conference with the Archduke Albert, 1-29 Jan. 1599/1600, corresponds with ff. 28-48 of the fuller account preserved among Edmondes's papers in Stowe MS 179. Several seemingly sporadic entries (ff. 2v, 3, 6, 9-10v), made separately on bifolia that were left partly blank for copying letters referred to in the text, fall into a single sequence running from 11 Mar.-26 Aug. 1599, and correspond with ff. 5-7v of the Stowe MS. Paper: ff. 40. Approx. 310 x 203mm. Single folded gathering preceded by several loose bifolia. On ff. 39v, 40v of the main gathering are notes in the hand of Ralph Bridges referring to Edmund Sawyer's Memorials of Affairs of State, 3 vols., London (1725), viz.: 'Memoirs ³ Relation of the Treaty of Bulliogne &c ³ Not in Mr Sawyer's 1st Volume Vid. 3d Book - Pag. 186 &c.' (f. 40v) and 'To be laid together to make Mr Sawyer's Collection more Complete' (f. 39v).
