1. ff. 1-111. Walter Strickland: Despatches and other papers relating his post as Resident Ambassador to the States General; Apr. 1643-Mar. 1646/7. Partly Latin and French. These chiefly consist of a series of thirty-nine despatches, mostly autograph, that he sent from the Hague to the Committee of Both Kingdoms, 21 Aug./1 Sept. 1644-10/30 May 1646. Many are docketed with a note of the date on which they were read before the Committee at Derby House. 2. ff. 112-129. G. R. Weckherlin: Translation into French of the document later printed as A Declaration of the Parliament . . . to the . . . States Generall . . . Concerning their last Embassie Extraordinary into England; circa 13 June 1645. Fair copy, with revisions. Copies of 'my Translation' were sent by Weckherlin to Strickland on this date (Add. 72437, f. 87v): the original was ordered to be printed on 5 Aug. 1645. From Add. 15.
