TRUMBULL PAPERS. Vol. CCCLXIII. Compilation of parliamentary proceedings made by and for Trumbull, with a title-page 'Parliament' and table of contents in his hand. Copies, in a variety of clerical hands, but the first item in Trumbull's hand. Book-plate of William Trumbull junior on front paste-down, and shelf mark, originally 3.D. altered to 3.B. Formerly Add. 83.
ff. . Contemporary binding of speckled calf, with red leather label, gilt-tooled on the spine. 320 x 220mm.
1. Speech of Sir Thomas Trevor as Attorney-General 'against the Bill for punishing Charles Duncombe'; 26 Feb. 1697. Copy in Trumbull's hand. For another copy, see Stowe 364, f. 70.
2. Journal of the House of Lords in the reign of James II; 19-20 Nov. 1685. With contemporary pagination, [1]-81, partly cropped in binding.
3. Speech by Gilbert Dolben, M.P., to the Convention asserting that James II's flight resulted in demise of the Crown; [28 Jan. 1689]. Copy in the same hand as the preceding and with continued pagination, '82-89'. For an autograph copy, see Stowe 840, f. 1.
4. Debates of the Convention on the vacancy of the throne; 28 Jan.-6 Feb. 1689. Copy in a different hand from the preceding, and with contemporary pagination, '1-132'. For another copy, see Egerton 3361., ff. 24-32v, and Stowe 371.
5. Commons' debate on the oath of Abjuration; 20 March - 9 April 1690. Copy in a different hand from all the preceding and with contemporary pagination, 1-44. The title given on the item, "A Perfect Collection of the severall debates and speeches in the House of Commons touching the oath of Abjuration 20 die Martij 1689/90", is erroneous. The parliamentary session began on 20 March but Thomas Wharton did not introduce the abjuration until later in April. This item is an account of the second reading, held on 26 April.

Peter Beal, II, pt 1 (1987), HaG 56, and The Works of George Savile, Marquis of Halifax, ed. Mark N. Brown (Oxford, 1989), I, pp. 315-341, 404. The work was first published in 1695.
