O. Letters from George Bernard Shaw to Max Hecht, humourous writer, and to his widow; 1896-1933. The earlier letters relate mainly to Shaw's plays 'You never can tell' and 'Caesar and Cleopatra'. The letter of 1933 refers to National Socialist protests against him in German theatres. One postcard (f. 73) has a portrait of Shaw on the verso. Purchased at Christie's, 19 May 2000, lots 114-116.
