B. Letter from Sir John Perceval Bart. (b.1683, d.1748) to his uncle, Sir Robert Southwell (b.1635, d.1702); 23 July 1701. Written during the course of a journey through East Anglia in the company of a Mr Bird, the letter alludes to Ipswich, Saxmundham, and Yarmouth and refers to meetings with Sir Edmund Bacon and Sir John Plater. Perceval succeeded as 5th Bart. in 1691 and Earl of Egmont in 1793, and served as M.P. for Cork (1704-1715) and Harwich (1727-1734). Purchased from J. L. M. Gulley, Jan. 2001.
