Althorp Papers. Vol. vii. Analyses and valuations of Northamptonshire, by divisions, hundreds, townships, etc., chiefly for tax assessment purposes, 1593-1640. Copy in more than one clerical hand, [1640s?]. A note on f.1 records that the volume was formerly in possession of Lord Longueville, and was bought in 1784 from the bookseller [Edward?] Yardley by John Coley, the antiquary and record commissioner. Possibly added to the Althorp Papers as a purchase by the 7th Earl Spencer.
300 x 210 mm. Modern vellum binding.
Contents include:
1. f. 2. Engraved map of Northamptonshire attributed to William Smith, 1602-1603. See Harold Whitaker, A Descriptive List of the Printed Maps of Northamptonshire A.D. 1576-1900, Northamptonshire Record Society, XIV (1947), No. 7, and R.A. Skelton, County Atlases of the British Isles 1579-1603, (1970), pp.19-21. The map may not have been part of the volume as originally compiled.
